This was my very first 9 to 5. I've since done it three more times, but this one was amazing. I was collaborating with my friend Rachel Peake, her love of Dolly Parton, the women's rights movement, and how deeply she felt about feminism and speaking up for yourself, was contagious.

It was very fun to create pedestrian, stylized movement that leaned toward the '80s but also leaned a little more contemporary. I chose that style because I thought it would be interesting to embody, and I thought it spoke to pushing beyond the current moment in hopes of a new day.

Working in the thrust was awesome. Your work becomes three-dimensional, which is more textured and very cool.
